There are a few publishers to choose from, but they mainly consist of a pair of books: one to teach the material, and one to be a study guide.
If you've got a bigger budget (i.e. if the company is paying), you could look at taking some training courses at a local business school.
Last I checked, the exam is about $100, nonrefundable if you don't pass. When I used to do hardware support, I took the exams, and I found I aced the sections involving the things I did on a daily basis, but I didn't do too well on the sections I didn't do daily and didn't really study for (cleaning laserjet printers, for example). Fortunately I did enough at my job to warrant a 90%.
Nowadays, you may be able to find e-books and practice exams online, as well.
The CompTIA website should list local certified examiners and training schools. (They're the organization behind A+ certification.)
