http://helpinganimals.com/Factsheet/files/FactsheetDisplay.asp?ID=30 says,

"Many people mistakenly believe that betta fish must be confined alone and that they can survive without being fed in a so-called “complete ecosystem” that consists of nothing more than a vase and a plant. As a result, fish are being sentenced to dull, lonely lives and slow deaths by starvation. These tiny containers are not suitable for any fish. While betta males do not get along well with each other, they are able to live with other types of fish in a “community” aquarium."

Working.

Why is Kumquat such an awesome word?

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. Which road do I take? she asked. Where do you want to go? was his response. I don't know, Alice answered. Then, said the cat, it doesn't matter.

Kumquat
In Chinese, the kumquat is called "Kam Gat Shu". The word "Kam" sounds like the Chinese word for gold, and the word "Gat" sounds like the Chinese word for luck. The tiny green leaves of this plant symbolise wealth as the word "Luk" (green) rhymes with the Chinese word for wealth. The shape of the small oranges is a symbol of unity and perfection.

Wandering around Chinatown a few years ago I spent some time staring at a kumquat tree.  The owner came up to me and said that the Chinese like to own or give the trees for Chinese new Year because of the similarity of the sound of the name with other Chinese words for prosperity.  This method of finding luck or lack of luck is true for things other than kumquat trees.  It is the reason why four is an unlucky number in Chinese- bad connotations with the word.

From Wikipedia, explanation of the pronunciation:

The English name "kumquat" derives from the Cantonese pronunciation gam1 gwat1 (given in Jyutping romanization; Chinese: ; pinyin: jīnjú; literally "golden orange"). The alternate name , also pronounced gam1 gwat1 in Cantonese (gān jú in Mandarin, literally "large tangerine orange") is now more commonly written by Cantonese speakers.

Are the buds on the trees opening near you?

Are you a fan of karaoke?

i have tasted of the fruit
and it's opened up my eyes
it's given me a thirst
that's so hard to satisfy

No. I hate karaoke. It really irritates me when people sing along to the music, unless it's me alone in the car.

What was your last romantic purchase?

We've got a few options, haven't really decided on one yet.

Does it seem like this week has taken FOREVER for you too?

Bit of both - still have a bit to do, but finished for some.

Would you buy a movie you owned just for the 'gift' inside?
